Karnataka: The Congress Transport Minister of Karnataka, Ramalinga Reddy, has submitted a proposal outlining the steps to implement free bus travel for women on Government buses. This was one of the guarantees made by the Congress in its manifesto for the assembly elections.
The Transport Minister, Reddy, has stated that all women can travel for free on government buses.
The report will include information on, among other things, how many women will potentially benefit from it, its terms and conditions, the cost to the exchequer, and the current financial condition of the four transport corporations,” Reddy added.
The meeting will take place with the attendance of all four transport corporations’ managing directors” Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), and Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC).
Regarding the BJP’s call for protests starting on June 1 in the absence of a guarantee, “Reddy reassured that there is no need for concern. He stated that all promises will be fulfilled and there will be no opportunity for protests from the BJP.”
