Karnataka: On the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway, vehicles are not allowed/banned. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will stop allowing vehicles on the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway in August 2023. Since the expressway opened, there have been more than 300 accidents in which more than 100 people have died. Because of how often people die in accidents on the Bangalore to Mysore Expressway, the government has put in place safety steps like fining people who violate traffic rules or go over the speed limit.
The access-controlled highway roads have been developed as a high-speed corridor, and the maximum speed limits for vehicles vary from 80 kmph to 100 kmph. With effect from August 2023, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has banned the entry of bikes, autos, tractors, JCB, bullock carts, tractors, non-motorized vehicles, and multi-axle hydraulic vehicles from using the main carriageways of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.
The order banning six categories of vehicles has been issued stating that the movement of high-speed vehicles may endanger the safety of specific categories of vehicles that move at comparatively slow speeds, such as bikes, autos, tractors, non-motorized vehicles, and others, an NHAI notification said. We urge people using autos, bikes, and other restricted vehicles not to use the main Bangalore to Mysore expressway. They can use the service road built on the side of the expressway. We are going to create awareness about it by putting up signboards.
