New Delhi: At least 288 people have died and more than 1000 have been injured in the horrific collision of three trains. The accident involved the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express and a goods train.
During the crash, one train collided with such force into the other that several carriages were lifted high into the air, twisted, and then crashed off the tracks. Another carriage was thrown onto its roof, resulting in the crushing of the passenger section. The incident involved two trains carrying over 3,400 passengers, according to railway officials.
The cause of the train accident was found to be a signaling problem.
