Bihar: Huge worries have been raised as a result of the collapse of an under-construction bridge in Bihar on two separate occasions in the past year. On Sunday, a portion of the Aguwani-Sultanganj Ganga bridge that was being constructed in the Bhagalpur district of the state at a cost of Rs 1,760 crore was destroyed by a collapse. Visuals were widely disseminated across social media, where users simultaneously highlighted concerns about the building’s overall quality.
The infrastructure company that is responsible for the construction of the Bihar bridge over the Ganga River is also the contractor for the expensive Signature Bridge project in Dwarka, in addition to two other projects in the state of Gujarat.
Government officials stated Monday that SP Singla Constructions Pvt Ltd.’s Gujarat projects, under investigation, are nearing completion.
The business is developing a Rs 962 crore four-lane cable-stayed Signature Bridge from Bet Dwarka to Okha on the mainland. The 2,452-meter marine bridge with a 900-meter cable stay span was started in 2017. Its 150-m pylons will support two lanes and walkways.
SB Vasava, Gujarat Secretary, Roads and Buildings Department (R&B), said, “The Bet Dwarka bridge is on the verge of completion. The Bihar event is unclear. We can consider it if anything bad happens.” New National Highway-51 includes the bridge.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has promised punishment against the infrastructure business after Sunday’s catastrophe.
On March 29, the Gujarat Assembly’s Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reported that the Signature Bridge, erected in an environmentally vulnerable area, did not obtain an Environmental Clearance.
