Bengaluru : Traffic Signals have a very important role in managing traffic. Traffic signals reduce the physical workload of traffic police. When the lights fail to function, everyone continues on their own path, unconcerned about the vehicles approaching from all directions. This results in accidents and colliding that damage vehicles, cause injuries, and in some cases, are fatal. This is why leaving traffic lights inoperable for a day is so dangerous.
There are three colors in the traffic signal light which are:
Red | Yellow | Green
Red Light: A red light instructs traffic to stop entirely until further instructions are given.
Yellow Light: A yellow light warns drivers that it will soon turn red, so they should slow down.
Green Light: A green traffic light is used to give drivers, pedestrians, and others a signal or to allow them to proceed.
According to Rise UP For Rights NGO studies, a large number of Traffic Signal Lamps & Timers in Bengaluru are non – operational, such as those that are faded, have low visibility, or are damaged.
We sent over approx 70 request letters to the Bengaluru Traffic Police, but it appears that the traffic police are not concerned about the issue of traffic signal “Signals” Lamps & Timers; all Traffic Signals / Timers have remained unaffected over the years and consequently resulting in vehicle users receiving incorrect traffic penalties. Due to poor Traffic Signals & Timers, the traffic police department generates good revenue.
In the name of safety, the government has spent money installing New AI cameras (Artificial Intelligence) in traffic junctions. However, as we have repeatedly written to the traffic police, they never show any interest in installing New or Replacement to Traffic Signal Lamps / Timers, which are crucial for all vehicle users.
Due to poor Traffic Signals & Timers, the traffic police have collected crores of rupees in penalty fees.
Faulty traffic signal Lamps/Timers confuse drivers and increase the possibility of a collision and Penalties.
SIGNAL TIMERS also play an important role which helps vehicle users to manage their vehicles. But due to a limited amount of traffic signal TIMERS and those TIMERS not functioning properly, it can be quite perplexing for all motorists.
Poor Traffic Signals and Timers also have an impact on ambulances. As a result, the patient is unable to arrive at the hospital on time, and the delay may result in the patient’s death.
A Timer will help to save the environment more by giving you the opportunity to turn off and restart your vehicle engine on time.
According to vehicle population, traffic signals should be visible before 100 meters.
The sector traffic police officer is in charge of maintaining all the traffic signals, but in reality, the sector officers do not even care to report about the maintenance of faulty traffic signals, causing the general public to bear the brunt of the police’s neglect.
