Shivamogga: A 13-year-old girl named Thejaswini dreamed of becoming a engineer. Thejaswini was offered a free education by Manjappa (MANJAPPA HUNNESARA PANIYAJII), the founder of the Vanashree Trust (Namma Vanashree Vasathi Vidyalaya), which operates a residential school in Sagara, Shivamogga.

On 8 June 2023, the little girl Thejaswini did not know that it was the doomsday of her life; Thejaswini health worsened in the hostel, and she started vomiting, stressed, nervous, Dizziness, and having an upset stomach. Manjappa usually does Ayurvedic treatment. Manjappa takes Thejaswini to a room and started to massage her, and forces her to drink a “one and a half”  bucket of water to keep her stomach empty; As a result, Thejaswini’s health condition became extremely critical, students said to State News Mirror of Society.”

Students – “Tejaswini’s death happened because of Manjappa because she was a victim of sexual harassment by Manjappa, which went beyond limits, and Thejaswini tried to raise her voice against Manjappa.”

Meanwhile, Instead of taking Thejaswini to the hospital, Manjappa kept getting her Ayurvedic treatment, which worsened Thejaswini’s condition. Seeing Thejaswini condition continuously deteriorating, Manjappa took her to the government hospital in an ambulance, but the doctors declared Thejaswini brought dead.

Doctors say that Thejaswini had already died; the doctors called the police and informed them about it, and the police sent Thejaswini body for postmortem.

According to a statement from the Rise UP for Rights organization, “Our team and legal representatives were sent to investigate upon receiving information about a suspicious incident in Sagara, Shivamogga.” After arriving in the city, our team went to the police station and general hospital, and while there, we observed something was wrong.

The police did not provide any acknowledgment copy to Thejaswini parents, which is highly irresponsible.

The next day, we noticed about four girls who had been victims of sexual harassment, but no one wanted to come forward to file a complaint against Manjappa; we said to victims if such criminals are not punished, they will have no fear of the law, which will increase criminal morale. “After 3 hours of discussion, all of the girls agreed to file a lawsuit against Manjappa. We were delighted when many residents began to support the cause, which has had a very positive outcome. We all went to Namma Vanashree Vasathi Vidyalaya, where Thejaswini died, and these four girls were sexually abused.”

Manjappa has been arrested under POCSO / Atrocity Act by the police, and the case is currently being processed in court.

“The girls reported that Manjappa prevented them from talking to Thejaswini. Additionally, he was unwilling to inform Thejaswini family about the situation and exhibited inappropriate behavior toward them.”

Rise UP added that, The Congress government is involved itself in this subject for the sake of publicity (on twitter and facebook); its impact in this case has been harmful. Politicians have no participation in the matter, and their support is appreciated if they chose to give it.

We cannot confirm whether Manjappa is a member of the RSS or any Political party, so we prefer not to provide further comments on the matter.
