Bengaluru: In yet another case of unrequited love, a man in Bengaluru Basaveshwaranagar police station limits shot and murdered his wife after becoming suspicious that she was having an affair with a member of the family. The husband stabbed his wife many times, including in her intimate areas, before leaving her for dead. The guy’s older sister went to their residence, where she found the woman’s dead body. The victim has been named as Nagarathna, and she was a sales associate at a store; the accused, Ayyappa, works as labourer. More than ten years had passed since Nagarathna and Ayyappa had tied the knot. The couple’s two children are aged 11 and 7, respectively.
An officer from Basaveshwaranagar police station said, “Nagarathna is suspected of having an affair with her relative Chandra.” On the 3rd of June, while Chandra and Nagarathna were enjoying a quiet time at her house, Ayyappa arrived home and shut the door from the outside before calling elders from both sides of the family. The rest of the family calmed down the argument, and Chandra was given a stern warning not to go on with the affair.
The police have also been informed that Ayappa told Nagarathna Sunday that he wanted to have sex, but she rejected his advances. Ayappa was so enraged by this that he went home and stabbed his wife with a knife.
Ayyappa was later arrested on charges of killing his wife. He has been put into judicial detention, and further investigations are being conducted.
