Bengaluru: A 16-year-old female student suicide herself in Bengaluru’s Hoskote neighborhood, purportedly due to physical and mental harassment from her teachers. The deceased attended Millennium Public School and lived in Parvathipura, which is part of the Bengaluru Rural area. The incident happened on June 20, after she got home from school.
According to the complaint filed by the deceased’s parents, they were initially uninformed of the reason for their daughter’s suicide death. It wasn’t until a few days later, through her friends, that they realised their daughter was subjected to serious harassment from school teachers.
The parents claimed that two teachers, subjected their 16-year-old daughter to repeated punishments and reprimanded her in front of others for no reason. According to reports, these disciplinary actions began after speculations about the deceased’s supposed relationship with a fellow student surfaced. The student in question is the son of one of the professors.
The teachers have been on absconding since the complaint was filed.
The guy allegedly harassed her and threatened her with serious consequences if she turned down his love approaches. He apparently told his pals that he adored the deceased and planned to marry her.
In their complaint, the deceased’s parents also claimed that a few days before her death, the girl was ordered to complete 100 sit-ups in front of her classmates as punishment. One of the teachers involved, Nalini, allegedly reprimanded her publically and claimed she didn’t want to see her face, after which she sent her to the back of the classroom. On the day of her death, the girl was allegedly summoned to a separate room by both accused teachers. When she walked out of the room, students realised she was in tears.
Two educators and a minor have been accused of abetting suicide and committing a criminal act as a group under Sections 306 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The teachers have been on the run since the complaint was filed.
