Bengaluru: A 65-year-old private school principal Lambert Pushparaj raped a 10-year-old girl with dyslexia; She used to study in second class. The school is located near Gunjur Bangalore. On Thursday, Varthur Police Bengaluru arrested the principal under the POCSO Act. The residence of the school principal is located right next to the school. The incident occurred after the girl arrived at school in the morning.

The victim complained of stomach pain after coming home at 4.30 p.m. When her mother took her to the restroom, she found blood stains on her thighs and other parts of her body. Around 11.30 a.m., the accused, who owns the school, is reported to have escorted the girl home and promised her chocolates. He allegedly raped the girl before returning her to school and gave her a slice of cake.

The Girl told her mother about her ordeal and was brought to a neighboring hospital. Doctors at the hospital reported it to the jurisdictional police after establishing it was a medico-legal matter. Police officers went to the hospital and took the girls’ statements.
The CCTV cameras at the school are not operational, and police are investigating. According to the school’s website, Pushparaj is the administrative director of the trust-run institution.
The victim’s mother is a stay-at-home mom. Her husband died of illness in 2020. Police in Varthur have opened an investigation under several sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO).
