Bengaluru: The BBMP is removing illegal banners flex in the Mahadevapura, Marathahalli zone of Bangalore due to increased complaints about illegal flex banner installations. Starting in August and continuing until now, over 90 complaints have been filed against illegal flexes, with 86 FIRs filed by the BBMP officials.
A significant number of individuals have previously petitioned to halt the illegal installation of banners or flexes. These banners are often made of non-biodegradable materials such as plastic and vinyl, which add to the plastic waste and environmental pollution.
Under wards 25, 26, 51, 56, 81, 87, 52, 53, 55, 54, 82, 85, 83, 84,149, 86 and 150 BBMP filed complaints. The total fine collected until August 22 was Rs 3,13,300 for wards like Marathahalli and Garudacharpalya.
We are pleased that BBMP is cracking down on illegal flexes and hope this effort continues until Mahadevapura is free from such installations.
Illegal flexes and banners were mostly installed along Tulasi Theatre Road, NRI Layout, Basavanapura Main Road, Narayanapura Main Road, AECS Layout, HAL Main Road, Kalkere Main Road, and other areas.
Improperly installed banners can obstruct road signs, traffic signals, and pedestrians’ lines of sight, leading to safety risks and accidents.
Report to BBMP for illegal banners
