Bengaluru: Ban on single use plastic in BBMP office, announced by BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath on 9 AUG 2023, Bangalore. The initiative to ban single-use plastic is aimed at protecting the environment. BBMP Commissioner clearly stated that single use plastics such as water bottles, plastic sticks, cups, and PVC banners are banned in all BBMP offices. The use of plastic is prohibited in official meetings conducted by BBMP.
The BBMP office has banned single-use plastic and recommends using steel glasses. Plastic bags and meals packed in polythene are also not allowed.
The central government has implemented the Single-Use Plastic Guidelines to curb the negative impact of plastic on the environment. These regulations strictly prohibit the use of single-use plastics. The municipal corporation has been informed of the ban on single-use plastics; however, it has been found that prohibited plastic is still being used occasionally. Single-use plastic is strictly forbidden in all BBMP offices as per the directive issued by Tushar Giri Nath on August 9, 2023, in Bangalore.
