Bengaluru Officials from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have arrested two residents of Srirampura on suspicion that they stole taps (bathroom fittings) and other fittings from moving trains.
Shanmugam, aged 47, and Gandhi, aged 29, were arrested by the Bengaluru division of the RPF on Friday at the KSR Bengaluru railway station. According to a statement released by the railway, two individuals are suspected of stealing taps and other carriage and wagon (C&W) fittings worth a total of Rs 12,960 from trains that were operating along the Bengaluru-Chennai and Bengaluru-Dharmavaram routes.
As per the statement, the Railway Protection Force had set up a dedicated team to keep a watchful eye on trains following multiple reports of theft. The suspects were found to be in possession of several brass items, including 56 Jaison taps, three Jaquar taps, one Jaquar press tap, and six brass foot valves. The statement confirmed that all of these items were made of brass.
