Recently, the cab and auto rickshaw associations in Bengaluru went on strike, demanding the government to ban bike taxis. Their argument is that bike taxis are not safe for women. Using bike taxis in public transportation is illegal as they are privately owned vehicles. Furthermore, there have been reports of auto drivers attacking the Rapido bike taxi drivers.
