In Bengaluru, stray dogs keep attacking people, and this is not the first time. There are numerous locations in Bangalore where residents have complained about dog attacks. When residents call the BBMP helpline, they are clearly told that the BBMP cannot take complaints through the helpline, much to the dismay of the local residents. BBMP has given control to NGOs to DOG catch for anti-rabies wax drive, but the BBMP Animal Husbandry Department’s anti-rabies wax drive for dogs appears to be failing.

Residents of Newthippasandara are disappointed with aggressive dog behavior and told State News that they made several calls to NGOs working under the BBMP to capture dogs for anti-rabies, but they delayed responding, OR When we called up dog lovers, they simply advised us to contact BBMP. The BBMP advised filing an FIR in the police station for a dog bite; the government will compensate the victim for the treatment.
Residents said dog lovers or animal activists would be held accountable if dogs attacked. Dogs who exhibit aggressive behavior should be relocated or confined to a cage because they are dangerous to our society.
Every animal activist, BBMP, gives advice about DOGS, for example – barking, growling, avoiding teasing dogs, throwing stones, driving slowly, or biting when dogs are provoked.
According to the resident, all this wrong information is being spread to save the dogs. No one provokes dogs, and A person will hurl stones to defend themselves. Some residents recommend that animal activists should keep the dog with them and take responsibility instead of preaching to others.
The canine anti-rabies vaccine, or ABC is not sufficient to control aggressive dogs.

FEBRUARY 2023 – Stray dogs attacked two children in Hyderabad. The children, ages (8) and (5), were playing near their house when two stray dogs attacked and bit them.
A report by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi said that 250 people have died due to rabies in the country this year, and most of them are in Karnataka with 32. Reports say that some of the victims died despite taking the anti-rabies vaccine. While 20,000 Indians have died due to rabies, 60 percent are children under the age of 15.
If these so called friends of stray dogs are really interested in the protection and welfare of the stray dogs, they must adopt the stray dogs, take home the stray dogs or at least put them up in some good dog shelter homes and bear all the expenses for their registration with Municipal Authorities and towards their maintenance, health and vaccination – supreme court says”.
